Job Overview:
The Volunteer Experience Manager role is at the core of Volunteer Odyssey’s mission. The Manager ensures high-quality volunteer experiences – working directly with our individual volunteers, corporate volunteers, and partners throughout the community. The Manager collaborates with other Volunteer Odyssey team members to make Memphis the best place in the country to volunteer and to help put Memphis on the map as a city of service.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Volunteer Engagement
● Match individual volunteers with volunteer opportunities in the community, based on their skills and interests
● Ensure quality of the volunteer experience – work with our Director of Community Engagement to review volunteer feedback and make improvements
● Oversee volunteer experience (review reflections, filter volunteers and sort data)
● Recruit and cultivate a diverse group of volunteers
● Review, analyze, and act on volunteer feedback data in order to ensure high-quality volunteer experiences and that volunteers of all backgrounds feel welcomed and valued
● Host occasional evening and weekend special events such as service projects
● Help coordinate and host corporate volunteer experiences

Communications
● Assist with external communications such social media content, newsletters, and media partnerships
● Assist with social media channels (develop content, respond to comments and questions) and e-newsletter (content and layout)
● Assist with content creation (taking pictures and gathering stories from volunteers)
● Help update and maintain the website Internal operations
● Oversee office management – including office details and logistics (inventory, invoicing, organizing)
● Plan team retreats, volunteer events, and team building activities
● Assist other team members on consulting projects, fundraising efforts, strategic programs, and project management as needed
● Assist with special events (such as fundraisers and volunteer opportunities)
● Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:
● Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Community Relations, Nonprofit Management/Administration, or other similar fields preferred.
● Ideal candidate has 2-4 years full-time work experience.
● Knowledge or familiarity with the Memphis nonprofit sector is a plus.

● Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with staff, volunteers, corporations, nonprofits, and community partners
● Ability to act diplomatically and demonstrate sensitivity in difficult situations
● Comfortable speaking in public
● Confidence and executive presence
● Comfortable working in teams and working independently
● Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Drive
● Ability/willingness to learn new computer systems and programs
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills

● Highly organized and detail-oriented
● Self-starter with follow through
● Proficiency in problem solving and collaboration
● Mindset of continuous improvement
● Fully vaccinated against covid-19
