A Helpful Guide For Voting in Shelby County

The Next Shelby County Primary/General Election Will Be Held on August 4th.

In this election you will be voting on who will represent Shelby County in the following seats:

  • Shelby County Mayor
  • Shelby County Commission
  • Assessor of Property
  • Circuit Court Clerk
  • County Clerk
  • County Trustee
  • Criminal Court Clerk
  • Juvenile Court Clerk
  • Probate Court Clerk
  • Register of Deeds
  • Sheriff
  • Shelby County Board Members
  • General Sessions Civil Court Judges
  • General Sessions Criminal Court Judges
  • Environmental Court Judge
  • Juvenile Court Judge
  • District Attorney General
  • Circuit Court Judges
  • And more!

As you can see, this year’s ballot is going to be a long one. And so you’re not out there blindly voting, Memphis Public Libraries has put together a Meet the Candidates page that you can use to get to know the people you’ll be voting for.

This can feel like a lot, so here are some helpful links and important dates for voting in

  • The last day to register to vote: july 4
  • First day of early voting: July 15
  • last day for ABSENTEE REQUEST: JULY 28
  • Last Day of early voting: july 30
  • election day: august 4

Once you’re ready to research the candidates, begin by learning who will be on the August 4th Ballot.

REMINDER for the Federal and State primaries: When you walk into your polling site, you will be asked if you are voting Democrat or Republican, determining which ballot you are given.

For the Shelby County General election, you may vote for anyone on the ballot.

If you are unable to vote in person, print this absentee ballot request form and submit it before Thursday, July 28, 2022, in order to receive your August 2022 ballot
